Ricerca sanitaria, Battistini: qualità dei dati fondamentale

Roma, 14 mag. (askanews) - "La collaborazione che abbiamo col privato per i finanziamenti nella ricerca è un esempio virtuoso. Penso alla ricerca nella neuro-immunologia e soprattutto nella sclerosi multipla. Questa malattia trent'anni fa non aveva una terapia autorizzata e non si disponeva di farmaci specifici. Insieme all'azienda farmaceutica Merck abbiamo lavorato, col contributo dei pazienti, e oggi ci sono trenta farmaci approvati per la terapia di cui molti altamente efficaci, riuscendo così a tenere il morbo sotto controllo", lo ha detto oggi Luca Battistini, Vicedirettore scientifico del Santa Lucia IRCCS, ospedale di neuroriabilitazione e istituto di ricerca in neuroscienze, nel corso di un The Watcher Talk Salute, il format di The Watcher Post. E ha aggiunto: "Per la ricerca è importante un impegno per sensibilizzare allo studio delle materie Stem. Noi abbiamo sessantuno laboratori, più di trecento ricercatori, due terzi dei quali sono donne e vogliamo rendere attrattivi i nostri laboratori per coloro che intendono intraprendere la strada". "Fondamentali oggi sono i big data - ha concluso -. Grazie alla nostra Data Science Unit valutiamo la qualità dei dati e decidiamo quali scartare e quali sono affidabili. Le informazioni affidabili aiutano i bioinformatici anche a delineare un percorso di prevenzione. I dati devono sempre essere ottimi, in modo da poter fare le migliori analisi".
