Sanità, Giornata mondiale Alzheimer: "Lorenzin (Pd) 'caregiver pilastro assistenza"

Roma, 18 set. (Adnkronos Salute) - "Senza il caregiver la maggior parte dei pazienti affetti da malattie fortemente invalidanti sarebbe abbandonata a se stessa nel nostro Paese. Per questo motivo da molti anni si sta provando, da diverse legislature, a promuovere e approvare una legge bipartisan sul caregiver, pilastro dell'assistenza per chi è affetto da malattia di Alzheimer, per i pazienti con demenze, problemi di salute mentale e non solo". Così all'Adnkronos Salute la senatrice del Pd Beatrice Lorenzin, co-presidente dell'Intergruppo per le Neuroscienze e l'Alzheimer, a margine della conferenza stampa per il decennale di fondazione di Airalzh - Associazione italiana ricerca Alzheimer, oggi a Roma al ministero della Salute, alla vigilia della Giornata mondiale dell'Alzheimer che ogni anno si celebra il 21 settembre. "E' inutile negarlo: l'assistenza e la cura di una persona con qualsiasi patologia è a carico delle famiglie, in particolare delle donne - fa notare Lorenzin - Oltre a una legge, però, è necessario costruire una rete anche dal punto di vista economico finanziario che sostenga questo pilastro del nostro sistema di welfare sociale. Come Intergruppo in Parlamento stiamo lavorando ad un testo condiviso, quindi totalmente bipartisan, per dare un sostegno concreto a famiglie e caregiver in modo strutturato nel nostro Paese".
