Serie A oscurata in tv, salta l'accordo: il disastro del calcio italiano

C'era una volta il campionato più bello del mondo. Una favola ascoltata centinaia di volte, anche perché nel frattempo sono passati come minimo vent'anni dall'ultima volta che tale descrizione è stata associata alla Serie A. Si può star qui a disquisire sulla qualità del campionato che è diminuita, dei giocatori più forti che non vengono più in Italia e chi ne ha più ne metta. E però bisogna anche saper vendere un prodotto, aspetto sul quale la Serie A sembra molto carente in questo momento. Oggi inizia la prima giornata e in tre mercati enormi non esistiamo: non sono infatti stati venduti i diritti tv in India (un miliardo e mezzo di abitanti), Indonesia (275 milioni) e Australia (dove vivono circa un milione di italiani). Teniamo pure in conto che in Inghilterra siamo un puntino appena distinguibile sulla mappa calcistica, con massimo cinque partite a settimana passate in tv. E poi esiste la questione americana, con la Cbs che ha fatto un affarone, acquistando l'intero pacchetto dei diritti televisivi in inglese per due spiccioli. Le cifre dell'accordo ricalcano quello già siglato in precedenza per il ciclo 2021-2024, che aveva fatto guadagnare ai club italiani tra i 55 e i 58 milioni all'anno. Una miseria rispetto ai 175 milioni che la Liga spagnola incassa per ogni stagione (1.4 miliardi garantiti fino al 2029). E non stiamo a scomodare i 450 milioni annuali della Premier League, che ormai gioca un altro campionato. È davvero soltanto un problema di prodotto scadente o forse chi si occupa di venderlo all'estero non sta facendo bene il suo lavoro? La domanda sorge spontanea perché la Serie A non è da buttare. Anzi, negli ultimi anni sta lavorando molto su se stessa per offrire una nuova immagine al mondo. La competitività è tornata su ottimi livelli, il nostro campionato è ancora superiore alla Bundesliga tedesca e alla Ligue 1 francese e ha ben poco da invidiare alla Liga spagnola. È vero, loro hanno il Real Madrid e il Barcellona che sono tra i brand più famosi e popolari, ma se ci limitiamo a parlare di campionato, non è che sia poi così avvincente. In questo senso la Serie A ha molto da offrire: l'Inter è una big europea a tutti gli effetti, Milan e Juventus stanno lavorando per tornare ai fasti di un tempo, l'Atalanta è una favola che si è trasformata in una realtà conosciuta e ammirata in tutto il mondo calcistico, il Napoli è sempre ai vertici e ha una marea di tifosi all'estero. E poi ci sono squadre comunque storiche come Roma, Lazio e Fiorentina. Insomma, se teniamo in conto solo il pallone, non c'è un singolo motivo per il quale i diritti della Liga valgono tre volte tanto quelli della Serie A negli Stati Uniti. Almeno l'abbonamento per guardare il nostro campionato su Paramount costa appena 5 dollari al mese, 50 all'anno. Qui ci vogliono come minimo 40 euro per un solo mese di Dazn... E allora, se la mettiamo così, forse dovremmo prima capire come rendere la Serie A fruibile nei confini nazionali a prezzi umani. E poi magari imparare anche a vendere i diritti tv all'estero come si deve.
