"Sicuramente lo è, ma perché?": Sinner e il doping, il dubbio di Pietrangeli

"Quello che non capisco è perché gli hanno tolto i punti e i soldi conquistati a Indian Wells se è innocente?": l'ex capitano azzurro di Coppa Davis Nicola Pietrangeli ha commentato così all'Adnkronos la vicenda che ha coinvolto Jannik Sinner, risultato positivo a un controllo antidoping durante il torneo di Indian Wells ad aprile 2024 ma totalmente innocente e scagionato dall'inchiesta di un Tribunale indipendente (Itia). "Io sono sicuro che Jannik sia innocente - ha aggiunto Pietrangeli - e al posto suo avrei fatto ricorso per farmi ridare i punti e i soldi che ha guadagnato nel torneo californiano". E ancora: "Questo Tribunale indipendente mi convince poco, è una decisione che lascia dubbi. Credo che Jannik abbia deciso di non fare ricorso perché consigliato dai suoi legali ma se fosse successo a me io non avrei accettato una decisione a metà. Se sono innocente voglio i punti e i soldi che mi spettano". La sostanza rilevata nel numero uno del mondo è il Clostebol, ma è stata rilevata in quantità infinitesimale, inferiore a un miliardesimo di grammo. La positività a questa sostanza proibita gli era stata contestata in seguito a un controllo effettuato dall'International Tennis Integrity Agency. Come riporta la Gazzetta dello sport, è stato appurato però che l'assunzione sia stata del tutto involontaria. Perciò Sinner non ha colpe.
