Turista esce dall'auto per una foto: due elefanti lo ammazzano, come è morto

Un turista spagnolo è morto, calpestato dagli elefanti in una riserva naturale sudafricana, dopo aver lasciato l'auto ed essersi avvicinato al branco per scattare delle fotografie. Ne hanno dato notizia la polizia e le autorità governative locali. L'uomo, di 43 anni, è stato ucciso domenica nel Parco Nazionale di Pilanesberg, nella provincia di North West, a circa 180 chilometri da Johannesburg, ha riferito la polizia. Il branco di elefanti comprendeva dei cuccioli. Gli esperti di fauna selvatica avvertono spesso che gli elefanti sono particolarmente protettivi nei confronti dei loro piccoli e possono reagire in modo aggressivo se percepiscono una minaccia. La polizia ha riferito che la fidanzata dell'uomo e altre due donne, tutte di Johannesburg, erano nel veicolo e sono rimaste illese. Piet Nel, responsabile della conservazione del North West Parks and Tourism Board, ha dichiarato che ai visitatori del Pilanesberg viene comunicato che non possono lasciare i loro veicoli mentre attraversano il parco e che devono firmare dei moduli per dimostrare di aver compreso le regole. "In alcuni casi, le persone non sono consapevoli dei pericoli presenti nei parchi", ha detto Nel, "Dobbiamo ricordare che si sta entrando in un'area selvaggia". Quest'anno gli elefanti hanno ucciso due turisti americani in attacchi separati nella nazione africana meridionale dello Zambia.
