Vladimir Putin ha visitato per la prima volta la scuola di Beslan

Beslan, 20 ago. (askanews) - Il presidente russo Vladimir Putin ha visita la scuola nella città di Beslan, nel Caucaso settentrionale, dove più di 300 persone morirono durante l'assalto dagli estremisti islamici nel 2004. È la prima volta che Putin, diventato presidente nel 1999, fa visita alla scuola del massacro. Putin ha deposto fiori nel cimitero della "Città degli Angeli", "in onore della memoria delle vittime dell'attacco terroristico" e anche sul monumento ai combattenti delle forze speciali morti durante l'assalto alla scuola n.1. La strage di Beslan è avvenuta fra il 1 e il 3 settembre 2004 nella scuola Numero 1 nella città nell'Ossezia del Nord, una repubblica autonoma nella regione del Caucaso nella Federazione Russa. Un gruppo di 32 terroristi, fondamentalisti islamici e separatisti ceceni occupò l'edificio scolastico sequestrando circa 1.200 persone fra adulti e bambini. Due giorni dopo, quando le forze speciali russe fecero irruzione, ebbe inizio un massacro che causò la morte di più di trecento persone, fra le quali 186 bambini, ed oltre 700 feriti.
