La convention di Milwaukee (Wisconsin) che ha incoronato Donald Trump come candidato ufficiale del Partito Repubblicano in vista delle presidenziali americane di novembre, si è conclusa sulle note della Turandot di Puccini, con l'aria “Nessun dorma” cantata da Pavarotti. Nel palazzetto della convention Gop sono risuonate le parole “Vincerò, vincerò”, poco dopo la promessa di The Donald ai suoi concittadini: «Renderò l'America nuovamente grande, riporterò il sogno americano». Forte dei sondaggi che lo danno strafavorito contro l'attuale inquilino della Casa Bianca Joe Biden (che ieri ha poi annunciato il ritiro) e della raccolta fondi che sta andando a gonfie vele grazie anche alla scelta azzeccata di scegliere il senatore J.D. Vance come candidato vicepresidente, Trump dice che sarà «l'elezione più importante» della Storia americana, che tra quattro mesi gli elettori repubblicani vivranno «una vittoria incredibile” e i prossimi quattro anni “saranno grandiosi” per gli Stati Uniti, grazie al suo programma.
