Italia-Israele a Udine? Il sindaco Pd è pro-Palestina e nega il patrocinio

Il sindaco di Udine, Alberto Felice De Toni, all'inizio la butta sulla burocrazia: «Il patrocinio si concede a iniziative che non hanno scopo di lucro. E questo non era il caso». Laddove “questo” è l'incontro di calcio, per la Nations League, Italia-Israele in calendario allo stadio Friuli lunedì 14 ottobre. Il Comune di Udine ha detto «no»: non ne vuole sapere, nonostante la richiesta inoltrata dalla Federcalcio, di concedere il patrocinio al match. E qui entra in ballo la spiegazione da “azzeccagarbugli” del primo cittadino, eletto sindaco il 18 aprile 2023 alla testa di una coalizione di centrosinistra. Prima motivazione alla base del rifiuto: «Sono previste deroghe solo nel caso di eventi benefici, cosa che la partita non è». Seconda motivazione: possono esserci deroghe «nel caso di eventi che portino particolare prestigio all'immagine dell'amministrazione». E in «questo caso», spiega De Toni, «la valutazione della Giunta è stata quella di non andare in deroga, tenendo conto che lo Stato di Israele è uno Stato in guerra e quindi la concessione del patrocinio, più che fornire prestigio alla città, potrebbe creare divisioni e quindi problemi sociali».
