Matteo Merli racconta il suo primo film: "Il tempo è ancora nostro"

Maurizio Matteo Merli, classe '81 attore e regista è il figlio del celebre attore Maurizio Merli che tra gli anni '70 e '80 ha, sbancato il box office nei panni del protagonista nel genere poliziottesco. Da “Roma violenta” a “Italia a mano armata”, da “Paura in città” alle memorabili scazzottate dove, come Tom Cruise, non usava le controfigure. Incontro Merli a fine riprese del suo primo film da regista “Il tempo è ancora nostro” insieme al cast del film, tra cui: Ascanio Pacelli, Mirko Frezza, Simone Sabani e Andrea Roncato. Maurizio, prima di mettersi in gioco come attore ha studiato all'Accademia Scharoff, un'eccellenza in Italia. Non voleva deludere suo padre? “Ero un bambino quando mi hanno detto: tuo padre è morto! È difficile da dimenticare, ma farò di tutto perché oggi sia fiero di me”. Quanto le manca? “Tantissimo! Penso spesso a lui, per me è indimenticabile. Aveva solo 49 anni ed era un attore molto noto e amato dal pubblico. È stata dura vivere senza di lui”. So che avevate un buon rapporto... “Sì, mi parlava spesso, mi dava dei consigli che io ascoltavo, mi considerava più maturo della mia età. Diventato adulto, ho scelto di frequentare l'Accademia e ho cominciato a fare teatro. Non volevo emularlo, ma vivere le sue stesse emozioni. Ho avuto la fortuna di lavorare con grandi personaggi, come Capitani, Placido e Giannini, tanto per citarne alcuni.”. Qual è la cosa più bella che suo padre le ha insegnato? “L'onestà, la semplicità e la lealtà nei confronti degli altri. Mi diceva: se scegli questa strada devi credere nel tuo lavoro. Interpretava sempre uomini dal carattere duro, ma era l'uomo più buono al mondo. È rimasto nella leggenda con i suoi film poliziotteschi”. Infatti, nessuno è riuscito a prendere il suo posto, anche se i suoi film sono stati imitati da tutti. Oggi ci sono più poliziotti in video che in strada, giusto? “Sono film di genere che si dimenticano presto. Ne salvo solo pochi, quelli di mio padre, girati negli anni di piombo, sono molto vicini ala realtà”. Credo che lei sia simile a suo padre. Ha recitato in tanti film con la stessa preparazione e grinta e ora volta pagina e si dedica alla regia del suo primo film. Il titolo è già una promessa, ce ne parla? “Il tempo è ancora nostro racconta una storia vissuta tra amici su un campo da golf. Tancredi (Ascanio Pacelli), è un ricco borghese che conduce una vita frivola, ma questo suo atteggiamento lo sta facendo allontanare dalla figlia, la persona più importante della sua vita. Stefano è l'opposto, ha passato gli ultimi vent'anni tra crisi d'astinenza e comunità di recupero”. Insieme, perché? “Ad unirli è il gioco del golf. Lo sport, in certi casi, è meglio di qualunque medicina. Vivranno questa esperienza sotto lo sguardo sincero e disponibile del padre di Stefano (Andrea Roncato), che gli farà da mentore. Ma questo è solo l'inizio, la storia è molto intensa, ricca di risvolti importanti”. A che punto è? “Le riprese sono terminate e ora penseremo al montaggio. Devo dire che sono soddisfatto del risultato”. Che genere ama? “Non mi sarebbe piaciuto raccontare la solita Gomorra. È vero, la vita è grottesca, si deve ridere e piangere, e questa bella storia di amicizia punta, per certi versi, anche al drammatico”. Ha già deciso l'uscita del film? “Stiamo vagliando, l'idea sarebbe quella di presentarlo all'interno di un importante Festival cinematografico. Qual è il film che voleva fare e che ancora non ha fatto? “Un film che avrei scritto per mio padre. Lui vive con me, lo sento vicino, sono certo che oggi sarebbe fiero di quello che ho fatto. Diceva sempre che voleva dare una svolta alla sua vita. Voleva essere altro e cominciare a fare il regista, ma il tempo lo ha tradito. Oggi ho 41 anni e la mia vita è stata abbastanza complicata. Nonostante le richieste che mi sono arrivate, ho detto no! Avrei potuto essere più famoso e più ricco, ma ho rinunciato. Dovevo farcela da solo”. Grazie anche agli insegnamenti della mamma e l'amicizia di sua sorella. Ricordo le foto dei suoi genitori sulle riviste patinate. Erano tutti e due molto belli. Qualche penna al vetriolo scriveva che sua mamma era gelosa di papà... “Sì, è vero era corteggiato, ma mio padre ha amato solo lei. La chiamava la mia piccola “Brigitte Bardot” perché era bionda, bella e molto dolce. Anche oggi è ancora così! Tra loro era vero amore.” Come ha vissuto questi anni? “Da sola, non si è voluta più risposare. L'amore vero è unico ed è per sempre. Ha una scuola per bambini e se ne occupa insieme a mia sorella”. Insomma, parafrasando il titolo del suo film: “Il tempo è ancora nostro”. Cosa si aspetta? “La serenità e poi, tanto cinema. Questo film è un evento importante perché unisce due mondi, quello del vissuto e quello di uno sport senza barriere. Il golf è adatto a tutti, ma in Italia si vede in maniera sbagliata: non è solo per gente ricca, ma per tutti quelli che amano i prati verdi e la tranquillità. E poi, possono nascere amicizie indimenticabili, proprio come nel mio film”.
